The Los Angeles Clippers will try to keep their winning streak going as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at the Staples Center (10:30 p.m. Eastern).
The Clippers are 11-5 this season and have won six of their last seven, including their last five in a row. Their last victory was an 112-96 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday. Their stars led the way, as Blake Griffin poured in 28 points and six rebounds while Chris Paul has 17 points.
“We executed our game plans on this trip, with the exception of Memphis [a 107-91 loss on Nov. 23]. We got to our places on the floor. We made teams do what we wanted them to do,” Griffin said.
“I think the Clippers make everybody look a step slow right now. They put you in a lot of positions where a mistake costs you a basket or a layup,” Utah coach Quin Snyder said.
The Timberwolves already reached double-digit losses this season (4-11) and lost in Portland last night (107-93). Minnesota allows just over 110 points per game, second-worst in the entire NBA. Kevin Martin leads the team is scoring, averaging just over 20 points per game. Rookie Andrew Wiggins (11.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG) – the No. 1 overall draft pick from 2014 – is the only T-Wolves player to start every game this season.
The Clippers are 14-point favorites in the spread, and the over/under is at 216. Los Angeles has covered the spread in five of the last seven games, and four of the last five have hit the over.
