The Philadelphia Flyers playmaker and captain Claude Giroux is looking good on his recovery as he’s ahead of schedule after he sustained an upper-body injury in the first days of training camp.

The Flyers are listed 28/1 to win the 2014-15 Stanley Cup.

“Good,” Giroux said. “Better than I thought. “Feel a lot better today,” he added.

Giroux joined his team skating practice on Thursday; he touched the ice for the first time on Wednesday.

“Bad luck kind of follows me. I was really frustrated,” he added. “It’s something that you can’t really control at that point. You work hard before camp, and you’re out there for four minutes. It’s frustrating, but at the same time, we’ve got to play it by how I feel right now and feeling better every day.”

The captain led the Flyers in point production in the 2013/14 season, and he was third overall in the league with 86 points.

“He’s starting to feel better,” Coach Craig Berube said to the told reporters. “I think he’s getting better quick, so it’s good.”

The Philadelphia Flyers are 15/1 in the future odds to represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup.

Berube expects a better start for the season this time after his team had a slow start last year.

“It wasn’t like I got surprised by anything, but from game in and game out it’s the competitiveness of the League and how tight the League really is,” Berube said. “There’s just no room for error. You’re playing all these teams on different nights here and there, how good these teams are and how well you have to play and how consistent you have to be to be a really good team.”
